santhu_ad
Hi, I stayed couple of years in other country after i got my green card. Do we need to stay 5 years continuously in USA to apply for citizenship? Am i eligible for citizenship if i stay in USA for 30 months. Please let me know. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
newacct
It depends on whether your absence was between 6 months and 1 year, or more than 1 year, and it also depends on whether you have strong enough evidence of ties to overcome the presumption of interrupting continuous residence. See USCIS Policy Manual, Volume 12, Part D, Chapter 3 for details on whether continuous residence is interrupted, and if it is, how long you have to wait to naturalize. Quote Link to comment
