H1B transfer applied from home country, Is it legal to work using LIN number?

A new employer filed H1B transfer while I'm in home country. They received LIN number but also received RFE. New employer is very slow in responding to RFE.

After getting admitted to US with current employer I-797, Would it be legal to work for new employer immediately based on LIN number?

Currently you are in your home country.  Do you have a H1b stamp to travel?  Because for getting visa stamp you will require an approved H1b from your current employer.  Good Luck.

It would not be legal to start work with the new employer unless his petition is approved.

You can not travel until the new H1 is approved. Anything else would be immigration fraud.
