sirisha ravulapati
I want apply greencard petition for sister. My sister family currently doesn't has passports or any travel document. Is it necessary to have passports to apply I-130 for family member. Thanks Sirisha Quote Link to comment
newacct
No, the beneficiary doesn't have to have a passport when the I-130 is filed. They will only need a passport later when they go through Consular Processing for the immigrant visa (when a visa number becomes available). Edited March 28, 2022 by newacct Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
No. But the wait is 17 years as of now. Tourist visa visits may not be possible once you apply. At the very least have her get a Passport and apply for a B2 visa first. Quote Link to comment
