Looking for options after H1B visa appointment cancellation

Hi Everyone,

I am asking this for my brother. His appointment in Chennai which is supposed to be in February got cancelled and there is no appointment available at least for next 6 months.

He went to India due to family emergency in September and have been staying there but worried he might lose the status if he stay for longer in India. I have couple of questions -

1. Could you please provide if there are any options available to get this stamping done?

2. Is it okay for him to stay longer and work from India and not lose the status?

2. I guess yes if his employer agrees. His employer needs to guide him.
