GC started and in India

Hi friends I was on US on H1B since June 2014 till Sep 2015. During this period I applied for my GC. In Sep 2015 I had to come back to India due to personal reasons and now not in a position to return back atleast immediately. My labour got approved and now I am supposed to apply for i140, my employer says I can continue GC process from India , get GC while in India and than travel to US after I get GC. Is this true? What are the pros and cons? Thanks in advance .

Are you asking for pros and cons of the GC? You can return in H1 status and wait for the GC. It makes little sense to sponsor your GC and make you work back home. Push for a return in H1 status assuming the company is the same.
