I140 approved - Change Job (Same Employer) - Extend H1B beyond 6 years

Hi All,

I have an approved I-140 petition for Systems Analyst position. The petition was approved 10 months ago. I am offered a Manager, Business Intelligence position within the same company, same location but different department. But the new department will not re-do the PERM until the priority date is nearby.

 

My 6 year H1B period is coming to an end May 2017. My question is can i take up the new position, extend H1B based on old I-140 and re-do the new PERM later say in 2 years.
