Different date of birth on passport and birth certificate

I have a valid US visitor visa on an Indian Passport.The date of birth on passport was used when filling the visitor visa application.My child in US now wants to file application for a Green Card for me.My problem is that the date of birth on my birth certificate is different from that on my passport.I would like to know whether this would cause any problem in the processing of my case?

Why is it different?

A different date was used by my parents due to age restrictions at the time of my school admission.The birth certificate was not insisted upon by the school.The passport was made with the School Leaving Certificate as proof of D.o.B. (this was acceptable proof for the Passport Issuing Office). Hence the difference.
