Reg. Question on Status F1-H4

Hi,

We filed to change the Visa status for my wife from F1 OPT to H-4 dependent. We received the receipt number. Though her OPT is valid, because we filed the H4 dependent on November 18,2015and received acknowledgement, she has terminated her job on September 10,2015 thinking that there would be acknowledgement would be sufficient for her to be on status.  Her college international programs office updated their SEVIS record and stated that we are well more than 120 days of unemployment and it may cause any problem to H4.

 

Need help in clarifying if we are in any trouble and she again need to join a job while application is in progress or she is good because we filed the H4 status change in time and application is in progress.

Once her COS is on file and you are in valid H1 status all the time she could have stopped as she did. It makes me wonder whether she was attending one of those colleges with very less credibility. Basically she is fine. Why did she not let her college know about the COS?
