completed 5 years to apply for citizenship but went out of country for medical emergency 11months

Hi,

 

We got the greencard in 2008 and didn't apply for the citizenship till now. We are thinking for it now. But we went to India this year for 11months due to some medical reasons (transplant) and came back few days back. Want to know can we apply for the citizenship ? What will be the process? I read some where that being out of country more than 6months and less than 1 year is not satisfied to apply for the citizenship. But want to know will be the same case for us as we already completed more than 5 years staying in USA and due to some medical emergency we went out of country.

A stay of more than 6 months and less than one year may need to be explained and you have a valid reason. Just make sure that a Lawyer is involved to Minimize any trouble.
