L1B-H1B start date

Hi,

Am in the process of transferring L1B to H1B( previously not used H1B petition).

(1)Will I be eligible to start working on H1B with just a receipt or need to wait for the H1B approval notice

(2)I want my dependent to get trasferred from L2 to H4 after my case is approved.How long can she be on L2 valid status while my case is in processing?

1. You will need the approval with COS in hand to start work on approval if you have been cap counted in the past. If you have not been cap counted for H1 in the past you can only start after October,1. You need to file her COS to H4 along with your H1 petition with COS.
