Department of Labour certification delay for H1B visa. Please help.

My OPT ends on 15th August'11. My employer had submitted the online application for DoL verification on 12th June but it is still in pending status. As per the latest update, DoL has put a temporary suspension on H1B visa applications and I don't know when will they start processing them again. Once my OPT ends I will have to go on administrative leave till my visa is processed. I am in a fix. Any suggestions if there is anything I can do? After the Dol application is approved, it will take another 3 weeks or so I have been told by my employers. Any way out of this mess? I am employed by a University but can not avail the 17 months extension option available to STEM scholars as I am in a different field. Please help?

Ask your DSO about cap-gap.

Hi,

I just read somewhere that obtaining the wage verification from DoL is not an absolute must. Can I file for H1B without this step?
