permaudit
I am on an dependent visa, but due to unforseen consequences me and my wife have been separated for about 1.5 years till date.We are planning to file divorce(mutual-consent). In the course of time, I have met someone special (US Citizen) and we are planning to get married. Can I apply for divorce and marry by staying in the US and apply for change of status? Or do I have to leave the country to get married? If so, what are my options? Link to comment
pontevecchio
You can remarry here after the divorce. But you should get a Lawyer onboard to deal with the paperwork. Link to comment
jairichi
Only after divorce is finalized you can re-marry. COS to what? GC? Link to comment

pontevecchio
There is no COS to GC. You mean AOS following an approved I-130 application filed after you get married again after the divorce. Again I say, keep a Lawyer onboard. Link to comment
