akshay.agarwal Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 My mother is on Visitor VISA. Her 6 months stay is going to end in November. As we have a personal need because of my wife's expectnancy, is it possible if she travels to Canada instead of India, and come back in a week and get a new i94 for another 6 months? We heard about such option that you have to leave USA boundary once and travel somwhere, be it India or Canada. Please let us know if this is permitted by Law and if somebody has already done this.
jairichi Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 She can attempt to come back. But, there is a possibility that she might be denied entry or given very less duration of stay. A visitor is normally expected to spend more time in home country. And, to enter Canada a visitor visa is required. Hope you are aware of that.
pontevecchio Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 She will not get an extension this way. You can certainly apply for an extension if you choose giving your reasons.
pontevecchio Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 I would add that even if she gets a new I94 , the expiry will be for the same date as now.
