san_diego
Hi, I had good credit history until Jan 2012. I went to India for 2 weeks for my sister's wedding and had to go for visa stamping. Unfortunately I got stuck with 221g. Was stuck for about 32 months. Finally came back last year. Had few credit cards and car loan. Since I was stuck and was not making any money I could not pay my bills and car EMI. Bank took the car as well. The car was worth more what I owed to the bank. Collection agencies called me numerous times and I explained them my situation but it dint not help. I also took the loan from India and tried to pay the credit card companies but that wasn't enough. I still get the calls from collection agencies every now and then. There are a lot of delinquent marks on my credit. I am unable to even lease an apartment now. Please advise what needs to be done in this case. Will hiring an attorney help me come out of this mess? Thanks Link to comment

JoeF
Nothing you can do. Pay your bills on time. That's the only way to repair your credit. Link to comment
jairichi
If I was you I would have taken the help of friends to sell the car and paid the extra money I made from car sales to pay credit card bills. Link to comment
pontevecchio
You wanted help and not pontification. At the very least look up what I suggested. Once damage is done there are ways to rebound much sooner than merely paying future bills on time. Post in that forum with specific details and ask for help which in that forum is non judgmental and very helpful. Link to comment
