part time H1 to H4

Hi,

 

Last month, I decided to switch from full time H1b to part time H1b due to family situation. Compnay attorney has already applied for the amendment but it is still under process with USCIS.

 

Now I want to change my status to H4 and I no longer wish to work.

 

Can I change my status to H4 eventhough my current part time H1 amendment is still NOT approved?
