Stem OPT ends Nov and advn degree classes start Jan

Hi All,

I have been working a full-time job in CA based on my OPT F1 visa. I was not picked in the H1B lottery this year. I am already on my stem extension and OPT expires on 30^th Nov 2015. I would like to continue working so I thought about enrolling as a student in college that provides CPT from day one. Unfortunately the Fall 2015 admissions are closed and I can enroll only for Spring 2016 batch. The classes would start on 25^th Jan, 2016. I know that students can enter USA 30 days before the classes commence. Which means I will be in F1 status from 21^st Dec 2015. This leaves a gap between 1^st Dec and 20^th Dec 2015. I also came to know that students can be in the country 60 days after their visa expires. So my question is if I can be in the country legally between 1^st Dec and 20^th Dec 2015 without converting to H4?

That would be abuse of CPT. It would kill your future in the US.

CPT is not and has never been for work in some arbitrary job.

No real university gives out CPT to somebody just signing up. And signing up with a fraud university that abuses the CPT rules will result in you never being able to get an H1.

Geez. Have you not heard of TVU and similar frauds??? Do you really want to get an ankle bracelet and get deported???

Stay away from that fraud "university", and forget CPT.

You are fine to stay. But, looks like by taking CPT you are planning a nice strategy to end your career here. Good luck.

Please don't enroll in college for CPT purpose. Lots of students have faced trouble recently. Especially universities which advertise that they are giving CPT from day one. You will end your career in US. You have an option of H-4. Try for H-4 EAD. You can legally discuss your case with attorney also. Ask them the same question. Can I work on CPT from day one? Take a decision based on their advice.

If you want to get arrested and deported then go for CPT else H4 is the best option you have.
