v777 Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 I would like to know how is MS for Civil Engineering ?? The job prospects, scope and growth for this field after MS in USA ?? Any related information is appreciated.
pontevecchio Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Check out the "OCCUPATIONAL OUTLOOK HANDBOOK" of the DOL under Bureau Of Labor Statistics.
cap-gap Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 not sure where you are from..but comparing to that of same field in India or the software consulting (generally associated with immigrants) in the states, Civil Engineering in USA is a very respectable profession but it lacks the glamor and will not help with the dollar dreams..steady and stable field with above average growth..

I am not looking for comparision with the software industry in USA. But how good are the job opportunities for H1B visa applicants ??
cap-gap Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 I am not looking for comparision with the software industry in USA. But how good are the job opportunities for H1B visa applicants ?? lot of small to mid sized employers shy away from H1B required candidates...it took a while for the top 10 to comprehend that they need to sponsor H1B candidates to have good talent on board..and they have become open minded about H1B sponsorship.. these top 10 entertain applications from reputed univ grads only..so education from a good US school (atleast at state level) is almost a must.. and there is just enough demand for all the new grads but predominantly limited to just four states in general..
pontevecchio Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Engineering PE Licensing requirements are very tough and you should look that up before anything else. Just GOOGLE PE ENGINEER and you will have some idea. It is more difficult to find a sponsor in civil Engineering .
