Can I travel to my home country before my opt expire

Hi,

 

 

Due to an emergency, I am planning to travel to my home country on 1st of may and return back on 7 may.

my First 12month OPT will expire on end of June. I have a time period of 45 days to apply my OPT extension.

 

My university told not to apply opt extension before traveling to home country as it will change i-765 forum and current i-94. so I didn't apply OPT extension and planning to apply after returning back to US.

 

Can I go to home country in these situation. Please suggest.
