DeepakSingh111
I am a US Citizen living in Ohio and my wife is an Indian Citizen living in India. I have applied spouse visa for her via I130 application, through an immigration lawyer. He told me that the processing time for her to get the visa is roughly 6-7 months. But recently, I read on Murthy.com that the Spouse Visa is available immediately to the wife of a US Citizen. Which one is correct? And also, is the timeline really 6-7 months or more? I would really appreciate any information on this topic. Thanks. Link to comment
pontevecchio
The processing till issue of the visa takes 6-7 months. Your Lawyer is right. Link to comment
DeepakSingh111
Thank you so much for the reply. Also, is there any rule that if I stay in India with my wife for 3 months, I could bring her to the US with me? And why do people keep saying that the entire Spouse Visa process sometimes takes upto 1.5 years or so? Link to comment
pontevecchio
They are confusing an US Citizen with a GC holder. Let her get the Immigration Visa stamp and come over. Link to comment
DeepakSingh111
So my wife originally belongs to Jallandhar city, Punjab state, India. After getting married early this year, she moved to Patiala, Punjab to my place. Also we got the address changed to Patiala. So does she need to get the PCC from both patiala and jallandhar or just Patiala? (She is already getting passport clearance certificate from the Regional Passport office). We are just concerned about police clearance. Link to comment
