Name change while in india temporarily.

My son is in India right now and I want to split his name. We are green card holder.

 

To change name, we need to furnish an affidavit and give a newspaper ad. If I do this now then his official name will change which mean he is not the same person as mentioned on his passport, GC, and other documents.

 

Is it legal to change name (by doing affidivit and newspaper ad) but travelling on the same previous name?

If you change the name then you will need to get his passport reissued.

If you legally change his name you will need to then change it on all official documents like the Passport, GC etc.
