rani357
One of my friends had a question which kind made me think if that's how it works He got f1 approval 3 months back and was put on random admin processing. With the frustration of almost losing a semester he is now thinking to cancel his pending visa and reapply for new one in same category. With an i20 from a good university for phd and with good credential, he is likely to get approval and may get away without having to wait for admin processing if it is really random? Any thoughts? JoeF
Is the current I-20 he has from a bad university? Link to comment
t75
He would not have F1 approved (stamped) and be in administrative processing. Your friend needs to get his own account and post his own questions. Link to comment
t75
Also, all prior history is available to officers making the decisions. Link to comment
rani357
JoeF - He has the same i20 with which he has applied for visa, for the first time.. It's one of the good universities.. t75: They have kept his passport and has given him pink slip (which i think is for some background checking) Thanks. Link to comment
pontevecchio
Maybe the reason is the "TAL". Link to comment
t75
Background checks are required for some programs. The fact they kept the passport indicates the VO was following procedures and expected it to be stamped quickly. Link to comment
