dp_123
Details: 1) I am US citizen who married Dec 2013 in india 2) Filed I-130 in USA in Jan 2014 3) Wife has indian passport which she acquired in Oct 2010 when she was single. My question is when she goes to the US embassy for her visa interview, do they require her passport to have her marital status as Married . Her martial status is single on her passport. Indian passport agency requires you for file for re-issue if you would like to change the status to married. Should we go through the hassle of applying for new indian passport for her to just change the status? Or the US embassy doesnt care about the status on the passport because she was single when she got it. Any help will be appreciated. Link to comment
pontevecchio
No worries. The Marriage certificate should be legible. That's all. Link to comment
t75
If there is time before interview, there is no reason not to update passport to reflect current marital status and name. It is easier to start with the proper name rather than than to deal with a change after entry into the US. Link to comment
