Arun_Indian
Hi all, My sister-in-law's maternal grandmother is hoping to go over to the US to help her out with her pregnancy. Should my brother (who is on H1B) provide a letter of support etc. for her visa interview. OR should we just proceed as though she is a regular visitor visiting the US - with supporting documents such as her property documents etc. Has anyone recently applied for such a visa - where someone on H4 is asking her grandma to come over to visit? Any tips or guidance in this regard would be much appreciated Thanks. Link to comment
JoeF
Sorry, it is NOT allowed for visitors to "help out with a pregnancy." That is considered work, and would require work authorization. If she need help, you would have to hire a nanny/household helper. Her grandmother helping would take away the job of an American, and that's a big NO! Link to comment
pontevecchio
"HELPING WITH PREGNANCY" is a thought lost in translation. If a person wants to visit this country she needs to get a tourist visa. Link to comment
t75
She may NOT come to care for mom and/or child. They should hire a nurse or nanny or mom should go home where it is legal for family members to provide care. If two adults cannot care for an infant or a woman is so incompetent that she cannot care for herself while pregnant with just the suppor of her husband, they are in a wold of hurt in the future. SO, change the plane ticket and buy one for mom to go home. Link to comment
