Can H4 travel while its still under process?

Hi,

 

I did COS from L1B (employer A) to H1B (employer B) on October 2013. Accordingly I have applied for my wife's H4 petition, but its still under processing i.e. in 'Initial Review' status. Here my questions is, can my wife travel when her H4 status is under processing? If yes, what all documents she needs to carry. Please clarify.

Yes. To travel to her home she needs her Passport. In order to return she needs a H4 visa and a copy of your H1 petition approval.

She needs to have a copy of your I797 to get a H4 visa.
