Yes, you can. But, if your intention is to enter US for studies then enter with a F1 visa. Link to comment

sam_h1b Posted December 24, 2013 Report Share Posted December 24, 2013 Hi Amirnaim, Yes it is possible ( I know people) who came to the US on vistiing b1/b2 visa and tranfered to student F1 visa. You need to file for COS "Change Of Status" request to USCIS. If you are comforatble with process you do it yourself or get help from immigration lawyer. Good Luck. Sam. Link to comment
pontevecchio Posted December 25, 2013 Report Share Posted December 25, 2013 Unless you get a stamp in the passport at the port of entry saying potential student you cannot change a tourist visa to F1. You can research your options and then come back after admission with a F1 visa. You realize normal institutions here have a 9-12 month lag period. It takes up to an year to get go through the process. Link to comment
