Yes, you can. But, if your intention is to enter US for studies then enter with a F1 visa.

Did you announce your intentions upon entry?  B2 entries are approved to visit schools to choose and then COS to F1.

Hi Amirnaim,

Yes it is possible ( I know people) who came to the US on vistiing b1/b2 visa and tranfered to student F1 visa. You need to file for COS "Change Of Status" request to USCIS. If you are comforatble with process you do it yourself or get help from immigration lawyer.

Unless you get a stamp in the passport at the port of entry saying potential student you cannot change a tourist visa to F1. You can research your options and then come back after admission with a F1 visa. You realize normal institutions here have a 9-12 month lag period. It takes up to an year to get go through the process.
