Change my wife's lastname officially?

Hello All

 

I am on H1 and my wife is on H4. We got married in India 5 years back and now gonna have a kid soon. Before that I would like to change my wife's last name to be mine. What would be the best way to do that?

 

Apparently the easiest way is to do a registered marriage here, but the rule says that you cant get married here if you are already married anywhere else.

 

Any thoughts?

Your embassy needs to be contacted for details of a name change and once a Passport with the change is issued  all other paper work can be done.
