H1b Extension using Approved I-140 before completion of 6years

Hi all,

 

I am currently under 3rd year of my H1b. My I-140 is approved.

I want to apply for H1b extension and I want to use approved I-140 to extend my H1b . Is it possible to do as my 6 years on h1b is not completed yet.

 

Also, I heard that H1b-extension based on approved I-140 is always 3 years. Is it true ?

An approved I-140 lets you get H1 extensions beyond the initial total of 6 years. Hence the I-140 has no role in your H1 extension.

So, You mean I cannot use my I-140 for H1b extension till my initial 6 years of h1b is exhausted ?
