sesha_duvvuri
I am currently on H1-B that is set to expire on Aug 31st. I have secured admission to a PhD program with Teaching assistantship(TA) and have filed for Change of Status to F1 back on May 22nd, 2013. My change of status is still pending as today. My school starts on Aug 12th. Orientation is for two weeks and then classes start on Aug 26th. I have a couple of questions. 1. Can I start school full time (register for classes etc) even if my change of status is not approved by Aug 26th? 2. Will the university be able to pay my stipend for the TA and also the tuition with my change of status pending? 3. Will doing the above be considered a violation of valid status if I ever file for Green card in future? (FB2A is current and my wife is planning to file for me). Thanks in advance Sesha Link to comment
t75
Until you have F1 status, the university can do nothing for you. Go home, set F-1 stamping and reenter the US. Link to comment
pontevecchio
Talk to a Lawyer. File your I-130 and AOS in August and study based on pending AOS. Link to comment
