I got my approval this year but my H1B is valid only for a year. I want to go to Canada around OCt/Nov to get my passport stamped. My question is "Is it ok to go get your visa stamped even though its only approved for a year?"

That is absolutely fine. But, since your H1 starts on Oct 1- it may not be advisable to go for stamping in Oct/Nov. It is safer to have atleast 3 months pay stubs from your employer starting oct 1.

i had my first H1 only for a year....after 3 months i went to India for stamping and no issues, got visa..all the  best...
