Expiring H1B and I 140 approved. H1B Transfer Question

Hi,

 

I have completed 6 yrs on my H1B and have been in the extension with my approved I 140. My Priority date is Jan 2009 and my I 140 is approved. My H1B is expiring in Oct 2013. 

 

My question is : If I change jobs now, can I get 3 yrs extension using my approved I 140 with my previous employer or is it advisable to continue with my current employer and change jobs after my H1 is extended?
