spamoh Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Hi, MY OPT got approved after 6 months and started from Jan 30th 2013. But by that time I was expecting a child and not able to work until August 2013. My OPT is valid till october 2013 and up for renewal/extension in october. Questions for OPT extensions 1. do I need to work for sure and run the payroll . or 2. Is it ok if I can show as non-paid intern during these months or 3. Can I show a letter from my doctor saying that I was not able to work during pregnancy Please suggest me appropriate solution for getting the extension after october.
pontevecchio Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 The one and only solution which will work is to talk to your ISA/DSO about the matter. Please do it soon as in NOW.
t75 Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Women work until just before delivery and return to work when the child is 6/8 WEEKS old.. You are claiming that you could not work for 6 or 7 months. Unless you have a valid doctor's excuse, you should have been at work.
cosf2tof1 Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 You can submit emplyer letter that shows work as a volunteer/Internshio without payroll run on opt .
pontevecchio Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Only true statements help the OP. She says she did not work till August. I am not sure of the exact situation now regarding post completion OPT. t75, WHAY ABOUT POST #4?
t75 Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 cosf2of1 - Do NOT suggest LYING to US immigration on a LEGAL website. It is just plain stupid and could result in very serious consequences when detected. How will she prove that she was at work? Forge timesheets? Really DUMB idea,.
