shekar11# Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Hello all, I came to USA in June 2012 on H-4. Applied for admission at a university in October 2012. Got I-20 in December 2012. Start date for school was Jan 2nd 2013. Started my course on H-4. Applied for COS to F-1 on March 20th 2013. My H-4 I-94 expired on April 21st 2013, but my COS was pending. Got approval for F-1 on May 21st 2013. I-94 on F-1 approval document says valid from May 24th 2013 till D/S. Just want to know what would be my status from April 21st to May 24th. And also after getting the approval document do I need to contact the college for updating my status. I did not submit any paper documents to USCIS. Everything was done online through USCIS ELIS system. Read somewhere in forums that I-20 needs to be stamped. But I did not submit any I-20 to USCIS. Appreciate your help guys in advance.

And also after getting the approval document do I need to contact the college for updating my status. -- Yes, inform the school's DSO about your approved change of status. You must maintain full time student status from the first available semester after your change of status effective date. I did not submit any paper documents to USCIS. Everything was done online through USCIS ELIS system. -- That is fine Read somewhere in forums that I-20 needs to be stamped. But I did not submit any I-20 to USCIS. -- That is fine. Appreciate your help guys in advance. See above.
