I-797 expiry on sept 2013, apply H1B in jun13,

Hi All,

I am trying to plan ahead for my trip tp India.

Current I-797 is expiring on sept 2013.

Last H1 Visa stamp expired on sept 2012.

Planning to apply for H1B extension in jun13( can i do that?)

Can i go india in the month of aug, apply for visa stamp for the new extended i-797( if i get extension approved).

If visa is approved, how does the start date works on it. Bcoz if it starts on oct13 as per new I-797, i will be struck in india. And i have proj go live in sept(need to be back by aug end).

I am not sure where is the best place to go for a visa interview(india/canada)

Any inputs/suggestions greatly appreciated.

you are worrying too much...just apply for extension early...show new 797 at POE and you are good to go.

India/Canada doesnt matter if all your documents are good.

If you check your current visa. There is no start date. You only have issue date and expiry date on visa stamp. Your old visa will be cancelled and new visa will be issued right away and you can use it for your entry into US anytime.
