H1 stamping while h4 is already stamped

Hi,

I am on h4 now and my h1 has been approved this year and I can start work on Oct 1. Now, I may need to travel to India in November so I have a couple of questions regarding this:

1. Will I get a new I94 with my I797 and if yes, which one do I hand over at the US airport - old one or new one?

2. Since we may be travelling only for 4-5 days, there will be no time for h1 stamping but my H4 stamp is valid until 11/2014. I will be carrying my new I797 (h1) all the time - is that with the h4 stamp sufficient at the port of entry for me to resume work in US?

2. Once your H1 status starts future travel needs the H1 visa to come back.

you have to show the new one...you cannot work based on H4's I-94
