nsutanto Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Hi, I'm currently in H-4 visa. I will be graduated from IUPUI as BSN. I tried to apply for the Nursing License, but got rejected because I do not have SSN. Is there a way to get SSN so that I can get the license before applying / getting a job? Do you have any other suggestion? How does usually other international student do to get SSN or to get Nursing license? Thanks
JoeF Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 It is NOT possible to get an SSN on H4. Period.

catx Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 You would need to approach the process from the other direction (your current thought is backward). There are processes for foreign nurses to work in the U.S. Your best option is to consult with a qualified, experienced immigration attorney familiar with the processes for nurses. (There are even law firms who specialize in immigration for health workers.)
nsutanto Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 Dear catx, Thanks a lot. Do you have any recomendation for the immigration attorney that specialize in immigration for health workers? Thanks in advance,
catx Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Since your inquiry is on a forum provided to the immigration community by an immigration law firm, Murthy Law Firm, it would be appropriate for you to contact them (and inappropriate for me to suggest another law firm). Of course, you are free to do an Internet search.
