cooldeeps2012 Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 Hello, I am currently enrolled on F-1 student visa with D/S status. My STEM OPT is expiring on 31st Jan, 2013. I had called SEVIS and they told me I have 30 days grace period to return back to India. Hence, I booked my flight for 9th of Feb. I am little confused about my I-94 expiration date. Does I-94 also have 30 days grace period? Or am I considered to be out of status if I over stay for 9 more days? Also, my current employer is wiling to file H-1B for April 2013 quota. Will the over stay of extra 9 days affect my H1-B filing? It would be great if someone can answer these questions as quickly as possible. Thanks in advance for you help.

cooldeeps2012 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 Nope..I haven't used up my grace period (60 days as said above) until now. Infact I used only 12 days of my unemployment period (90days) while on OPT status.
t75 Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 D/S is not a "date". Since your last day of OPT is the end of Jan and you are leaving well within 30 or 60 days, what are you worried about?
