working_usa
Hi All, I'm here on F1 visa, Completed my masters currently on OPT. I have few questions about- My F1visa expires in June 2014. OPT expires in Dec 2014.(STEM ext..) My passport also expires in April 2016. If i apply for H1 in April 2014, It will get activated in OCT 2014. If i go for stamping in 2015 how many years of Visa i may get, Is it depends on my passport which expires in 2016? I know visa stamping depends on contract, Just for the sake of curiousity Do i get Visa more than my expiration date of passport? If need to apply for new passport, what is the window period i can apply, can i apply in 2015 a year ahead before expiration? Link to comment
t75
Yes, your visa can be longer than your passport. Your I-94 will/should not. Carry both old with stamping and new. Link to comment
pontevecchio
The visa stamping is usually not dependent on Passport expiry. The visa will be based on the duration of your H1 petition approval. As regards the Indian Passport have a look at the Embassy website. Link to comment
