venkatraman410 Posted November 28, 2012 Report Share Posted November 28, 2012 Hi, My situation is following, 1. My passport was expiring ob May 2013, so my I94 is valid till that date. 2. I have renewed my passport now and was thinking of going to Canada and coming back on December 4th for getting new I94. 3. My US visa expires on 8th December, so i would enter back in country 4 days before visa expiry. Is it safe to do so. What are alternatives i have. Thanks in Advance, Venkat Link to comment
kalyan_ac Posted November 28, 2012 Report Share Posted November 28, 2012 You can travel back 1 day before of the visa expiry too. Do you have a valid petition(I797) extended?You may need that to show at POE and other relevant/regular documents when travelling. Link to comment

I am planning to take all my payslips, W2 forms, company letter in addition to I797. Do you think any more documents are required. Link to comment
pontevecchio Posted November 29, 2012 Report Share Posted November 29, 2012 Keep your job letter, stubs etc separately. Just show the Officer the H1 approval. You have to ask for a new I94 and not assume anything. Link to comment
