Impact of B2 stay duration on Green Card

My parents have a 10 year muli entry B2 visa. They have visited us several times now. They have also applied for (and have been granted) extensions of stay a couple of times. Would the duration of their stay on B2 have any effect if/when they apply for a family based green card? In other words, if their visits/stays are viewed as a misuse of the B2 visa, would it jeopardize their Green Card application when they apply for one in the future? Insights/experiences on this front would be appreciated.
