H4 to H1B COS

My wife is on H-4 visa at the moment. If she get an employment and get her H1 approved for FY 2013 (say in April), can she start working immediately or she has to wait until October 2013 for her H1 to kick in?

I am so annoyed. A first time H1 can only be applied after April,.1 for a start date of October,1 onwards. How in hades would any employer be able to request an earlier start date? Please..............

@rsharma123: FY 2013 starts from Oct 1, 2013 and so your wife will be able to work from Oct 1, 2013 if applied FY 2013 quote which starts from April 1, 2013.

First, that would be fiscal year 2014, which starts on Oct. 1, 2013.

Second, the earliest start date would be Oct. 1, 2013.
