nisharsuvarna
Hi, I have my H1B visa stamped from company X, but right now since there is no open position for me in US, am currently in India itself. Is it possible for me to travel to US on my own, that is on my expense and lookout for a job there? Link to comment
JoeF
Not with the H1. If you enter with the H1, you have to start working for that company X. You could get a visitor visa, and use that to travel. Link to comment
pontevecchio
You can do that with a B2 visa. Enforcement is extremely high. Link to comment
rohang
It is ILLEGAL to come on H1 without assignment in hand. As soon as you land here, you salary need to start. Link to comment
mj129
I think you are out of status if you are no longer employed in that company. Even if they had not canceled your H1B, I think you are still considered out of status. Sorry about that. You will probably need to travel on a tourist (B1/B2) visa if you want to travel back to the US. Link to comment
