L1 to H1 Change of Status vs I-94 #

Currently 15Oct2012 still working with my Employer on L1 visa with I-94 # XYZ received while re- entering US in Sep2012 valid till Jan2013.

In mean time I applied for H1B from another company when in US in Jun2012 and now have received Approval Petition and change of status approved starting 03Oct2012 having I-94# ABC – this I-94# was old I-94 that I had when filling the application.

Now, I would like to know whats my current status – Is it in L1 or it H1?? Does I-94# really maters.

If Status is L1 - Do I need to apply for Change of Status if need to work H1.

Or If status is H1 - what should i do to continue working in L1 status.

Talk to your Lawyer. If you left while a COS was pending the COS should not have been approved except in error.
