what is the process for finding a work in US for UK national?

Hi Guys,

I am UK national trying to find the process of getting into US. There are lots of job opportunities within my field. I am not sure about the exact process or is the process any easier if you're a UK national.

Any information or help would be much appreciated.

The same as for people from any other country.

You apply for a job, and if the company is willing to hire you, they would have to apply for an appropriate work visa for you.

What is your field. What are your credentials? Immigration depends on country of birth and not nationality.

Software field.

I did my Masters (MCA) and 12 years of experience.

I have a British Passport and also Overseas Citizen of India.

One of the prospective employer mentioned that the H1 cap won't open for work until October 2013 that it really restricts what they do. Is that really the case that there is no way for the employer to provide me a H1B or some other visa if they want to employ me?

The employer is right.

There is a quota for H1s, and the quota for this fiscal year is full.

The application window for next fiscal year starts on April 1, for a job start date of Oct. 1, the beginning of the US government fiscal year.

For an H1, nationality or birthplace don't matter at all.
