re-entry issues on travelling abroad after landing on H1B status

Hi,

My H1B visa gets activated on 21st/23rd september. I am landing about 15-18 days before my actual start date (which is almost at october ending), and I am planning to go for a week-long academic trip (presentations, based on my previous college work, in no way related to my employer) to a different country (not my home country India, and also not in the US).

Will I face complications on re-entering the US? (i.e HYD -> SFO, wait for 3-4 days at SFO, SFO -> acad_trip outside US and India-> SFO)

If your H1 was subject to cap and is your first one you will need a tourist visa to enter before the 21st. i.e. 10 days before October,1..well do the exact math.

I am entering in mid-october, well after my H1B gets "activated". My question was if I'll face any complications on entering and re-entering the US while my H1B is already valid, but didn't actually join the company yet.

How does your H1 visa get activated on 21/23 September.? You are saying your start date is not October,1. One needs facts.
