H4 RFE and maintaing the Status till H4 gets approved

HI All,

I am presently on F1-OPT(valid till DEC 2012) and my wife is on F2- dependent visa. I applied for H1B visa in May2012 and got it approved in AUG2012 and it which starts from OCT 2012.

Due to some unforeseen reasons, I applied my wife’s H4 a little late in JULY2012 which received a RFE on 4^th SEP2012. I am yet to get the letter and see why it received a RFE even after my receipt number was provided during the H4 application. I will send the answer to the RFE as soon as I receive the letter.

My Question here is if the result doesn’t come before 30^th SEP, what is my wife’s status? Can she stay till she gets any response from USCIS or has she have to leave the country on 30^th SEP.
