Dear sir/madam,

My husband is in H1B visa and i am in H4 visa.We are expecting a baby in November 2012.

We are planning to convert baby's citizenship by registering birth at Consulate General of India and also obtaining Indian passport.

Once we obtain Indian citizenship as said above, will the baby require visa for the rest of our stay in US ?

And also once the baby's citizenship is converted to Indian , will US government issue visa for the baby to visit US in future?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks and Regards,

Sindhu

There is no "conversion" of citizenship.

A child born in the US is a US citizen. There is no way around that.

Now, the child may in addition become an Indian citizen.

But the child is and remains a US citizen. And a US citizen needs a US passport to enter the US. A US citizen can not and will not get a US visa, because a US citizen doesn't need any visa to enter the US. A Us citizen, and the child is and remains a US citizen, needs a US passport to enter the US.

If you do not want the child to be a US citizen, have the birth outside the US.

You need to talk to an Indian Lawyer about the matter. A person born here will not need or get a visa to visit. But your baby will have it both ways. Firstly the Indian Government may allow actual dual Citizenship in the next few years. Secondly your baby can come over and study here without F1 bs. What is the problem? One can relinquish and again get Indian Citizenship. Do you understand? No worries. You can do what you propose. Visits here before adulthood may be the problem.
