H1 usage period - 6 yrs?

I am on L1 and going to use my previously approved H1 (which was approved on OCT 1, 2006) to change my status from L1 to H1 (Cap excempt???) .

But I never entered or used that H1 in US(For past 8 years i was working in India only,Not entered in US. - Now for past 6 months I am in US with L1 status)

If my H1 approved , howlong I will get my extention?

Find a H1 sponsor and for a direct job you may get 3 years and for layers the job duration depends.
