H1B to H4

I have H1B visa valid till OCT2013 and my wife has valid H1B till July2013. Due to personal reason my wife need to quit the company and stay home.

Can someone pls help me finding answer to my doubts?

1. Considering Sept 30th as last working day for my wife, when should she apply for H1 to h4 conversion?

2. how much time it takes for approval, what if approval comes before Sept30th?

3. Even my H1 transfer is initiated under premium process on AUG1. Shall we wait for my transfer first and then apply for her H1 to H4?

3. Yes. If you do this she will be in H4 status in a week or two and will have to work.

If you have the company Lawyer file her COS to H4 she will change status to H4 when your H1 extension is approved and will have to stop work .
