H1B Visa Stamp: Current Petition valid, Extension Also approved

Hello,

I am in US on a valid petition from my employer. It expires on Sep 30, 2012. Extension has also been applied and approved. Validity start date is from Oct 1, 2012.

While filling up the DS160, the peition number is asked.

Which one do we need to provide?

- Is it the current valid petition? or

- is it the approved extension petition ( valid from Oct 1 2012)?

If you have faced this situation or know a solution for the same, could you please comment.

It Should be a Current Valid Petition...and when you attend the Interview..you basically have to give both I797's to the VO...

If you are planning to go after Sept, use the new approved petition number.

it should be new petition since you are asking for stamping for the new time period of extension.

You should give approved extension Petition and carry the all the petition for the interview.

I am also in the same situation. My visa interview is on July 23rd in Ottawa. I have used extension petition while filling the DS form. Because you are looking for visa stamping for extension also right? But bring both petitions to embassy and show them both.
