I94 not taken at the PoD

Hi there, recently I went to ottawa fro my visa stamping from chicago. At the departure section I submitted my I94 to the lady at that counter. She asked " are you coming back?" and I said Yes, then she checked something on her computer and gave back my I94.

When I joined two others in Canada, they had the similar experience but they came by road.

So, our old I94 is still with us and back to US with new I94. Keeping the old I94 will create any issues in future?
